We don't work on your people.
We work on what holds them back.

Ownership At Work grew out of one observation: when a whole department takes no ownership, it rarely comes down to the people themselves.

It comes down to the roles, the mandates and the leadership behaviour around them. That is what we measure, and that is what we fix together with you.

Our starting point
Culture is not what you say. It is what you do when nobody is watching.
— Gerard Seijts
The distinction

Everything we do hinges on one question.

A people problem

Is one person not taking ownership?

Then you have a conversation, make an agreement and follow it up. Usually that solves it. You don't need an outside firm for that, and we will tell you so.

A system problem

Is a whole department not taking it?

Then the behaviour is no longer a choice but a consequence. Of unclear mandates, of habits that crept in, of leadership that rewards dependence. Correcting person by person no longer achieves anything.

Most of the market sells the first: working on the people. We do only the second.

Our story

We started with a question.

Ownership At Work was founded to tackle one of the most persistent challenges in organisations: how do you create conditions in which people genuinely take ownership, not because they have to, but because they want to?

Conditions. That is the word that counts. Not motivation.

After years of research and practical experience in dozens of organisations, we developed a validated framework, a certified network and a set of instruments that make an ownership culture measurable and actionable.

That framework is the 4D model: measure, design, deploy, sustain. It is deliberately sober at the point where other programmes are spectacular. We start with a baseline measurement and end with that same measurement, so you can check for yourself whether anything has shifted.

We work with clients in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp.

The difference

Where we depart from a traditional culture programme.

Anyone looking for an HR consultant or an organisational consultancy has plenty of choice. This is where we depart from the usual offer, in the order you will notice it.

  • What is usual

    Starts with an inspiration session

    How we work

Starts with a baseline measurement across 20 levers, per team

  • What is usual

    Works on attitude and motivation

    How we work

Works on roles, mandates and leadership behaviour

  • What is usual

    Ends with an advisory report

    How we work

Ends with a re-measurement against your own baseline

  • What is usual

    Always has a programme ready

    How we work

of Belgian employees are engaged at work

European average: 12%. Worldwide: 20%. Belgium ranks among the lowest in Europe. We don't exist because engagement is an appealing theme, but because a figure like this doesn't tell you where things get stuck. For that, you have to measure.

What we steer by

Three principles we don't depart from.

  • Data-driven

Our approach starts from measurement, not from gut feeling. We build on years of hands-on experience across dozens of organisations.

  • People-centred

We start from people, their motivations, their context and their growth potential.

  • Results-driven

Every intervention is designed to achieve measurable, lasting change in culture and performance.

Our mission

Ownership as the norm, not the exception.

We exist to help organisations build a culture in which people feel genuinely responsible, empowered and engaged in the shared result.
